Headphone Design
Project Overview
I set out to design a pair of headphones that respond to every moment of your sound experience with a spark of surprise.
MoodBoard
The aesthetic of the headphones draws inspiration from products that emphasize the materiality and timelessness of home decors. It combines the technological elements with execution of sculptural details.

Sketches
The sketches explore the different designs of connectors between head band and ear cushions. They also investigate the interplay between hard material versus flexible straps and how those details might alter the interaction dynamic between the headphones and the users.

Final Design
II decided to go with a design that emphasizes the delicacy of its materiality and mechanism. The headphones are comprised of aluminum, leather, and translucent plastic. The materials complement each other to embed a rich experience of touch, sound, and interaction for its users.

The flexible leather straps respond to the adjustment of the head band as the ear cushions are pushed up and down.
